Keeping in mind the latest developments in medical education, the college will endeavor to promote self learning strategies such as problem based learning and other small group activities. Self study, assignments, seminars, presentations, field visits and tutorials will be part of teaching and learning process. |

Thus emphasis of the program will be on independent self study and small group activities related to problem solving. Competency in examination and diagnostic skills is prerequisite for any medical graduate and at Harrods, besides the very well equipped basic science laboratories with latest equipments and functional Skills laboratory imparting training to medical and paramedical staff will ensure that our graduates have the requisite skills to become successful and competent physician. |

Research would be an integral part of the course and would be fully supported by a well-equipped learning resource center and laboratory facilities. We feel that an early introduction to research methodology is imperative and the students would be supported by well-trained supervisors conducting these projects. |

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS): |

The 5-year MBBS programme is a blend of bio-medical and clinical sciences which are traditionally required for medical graduates to meet the responsibilities of providing preventive as well as curative healthcare. In order to achieve the objective of producing a high degree of professionalism in the doctors, it has been considered appropriate to follow the curriculum prescribed by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council with some flexibility. The course lays comparatively greater emphasis on clinical and on the job training during the final year. |

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS): |

The four-year degree programme of BDS meets the requirements of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. It is a combination of hardcore subjects of dentistry with medical and basic sciences. Clinical training in the dental disciplines is imparted which is equipped with modern facilities in the field. The specifically designed programme aims at exposing the students to real life problems including radical art in clinical dental practice. The students are provided with a solid foundation of basic principles of medicine, diagnostics and surgical techniques to meet the challenges of the future in the field of dentistry. |

BS in Virology and Immunology: |
| |
Through this programme, solid foundations will be laid for the future virologists to study Pakistani and regional DNA and RNA virus(es), their life cycle, structure/gene expression, replication, assembly, attachment, entry, coupled with development of antiviral therapies, use of viral antigens as vaccines, and viral vectors for gene delivery. Additional focus will be on application of disparate data sources towards integrated bio-defense and identification of novel epidemic indications and warnings as well as a research in the field of remotely-sensed epidemic surveillance. Cost effective and sensitive assays will be developed to rapidly detect the presence of viruses in blood, semen and saliva of infected individuals in Pakistan. The programme syllabus also includes Immunology-based investigations that will provide novel clues in combating the complications of strain specific viral-induced pathogenesis, autoimmune diseases, type 1/2 diabetes, leukaemia, lymphoma and solid tumour. |

PARAMEDICAL: |

The continuous expansion of the health care industry brings with it a growing demand for trained paramedical professionals. In order to cater to this demand to whatever extent possible,the National Institute of Alternative Medicines has recently entered the field of paramedical education with the introduction of Diploma courses in subjects such as Physiotherapy, First Aid, Hygiene & Sanitation, Family Welfare & Population education, Home nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Electro Cardiogram Technology, and Medical Radiographic (x-ray) Technology. Courses have also been introduced in Dental Sciences (alternative) and Veterinary Medicine (alternative).This courses are being run under the aegis of the National Institute of Medical Technology which provides quality education in and the latest know how of paramedical and allied subjects. |
